Surveillance and Flames- BB7 house reflects the Intensity of this years Allstar Competition

"Big Brother," originally a character in George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty Four, was a supreme ruler that had control over a totalitarian state. This fictional society that Orwell creates, is described as under complete surveillance by authorities, where "Big Brother is Watching you."

In this years CBS Big Brother 7, not only will Big Brother be watching over the houseguests, but viewers are also granted ruling power over the house as they choose their 6 favorite previous houseguests to compete in the "All-Stars" series. I wonder if this is what Orwell had in mind? Just like propaganda was used to control the population in Orwell's book, propaganda for houseguests will be coming forth at all angles- people reflecting upon houseguests previous moves in Big Brother forums all over the net, and fans judging them on their past performances by watching past clips, commercials and their promotional videos.... Propaganda for Big Brother Houseguests will be everywhere on t-shirts, flyers, forums, TV.... there is no telling how extreme fans will go... Who will you vote for?

The new Big Brother House will leave nothing to the imagination of the viewer. Surveillance will exist in every corner of the house, along with memorabilia from past shows. The cost of the house... $350,000... with several intense features. The living room is decked out in bright bold colors such as red and orange and a 16 foot tall wall of neon flames will be hard to miss. The wall is said to either "make you want to drink a cocktail or kill somebody, or both"... a perfect melody of what should reflect the mood of this game- Good versus Evil... These veterans better be careful, as this game in this environment is obviously going to be cut throat and HOT HOT HOT! The kitchen continues the theme of flames but also adds a jail feeling with a solid brick kitchen floor. No wonder houseguests in other countries have gone to psychiatric wards after the show... the intensity of this environment should really turn up the heat of emotions, conflicts, and twists. The last feature of the house is several cases full of memorabilia from past seasons- most likely these items will also stir up some good and bad memories.

The house is monitored by cameras in every room- there is nothing you can't do without being watched- Orwell's symbolism becomes reality- everyone being watched 24/7. Make sure you become part of Big Brother and get access to live video feeds straight from the house.

Big Brother 7 - Week One (Part Two)

This is the second part of the first impressions of the remaining seven housemates as the first week of Big Brother 7 draws to a close.

Glyn Wise
Win Odds: 33/1 (Bet365)
Fervent Welshman Glyn is also up for the first eviction and still Dons the red shorts he wore on opening night as he has not been given his suitcase. Like Bonnie, Glyn is very quiet and early indications suggest he is another example of terrible miscasting. However, being a man, he will survive the first eviction at the expense of a female opponent, i.e. Bonnie, and will treat the nation to his emaciated body for another week at least.

Grace Short
Win Odds: 22/1 (Bet365)
Grace, who admitted "the fame would be nice" before entering the house would not be undone by the Imogen / Sezer pairing and, spying a glossy magazine deal of her own, soon latched on to Mikey and shared a kiss on day six. Other than that, she has done little in the house thus far, but is unlikely to be voted out any time soon.

Sezer Yurtseven
Win Odds: 22/1 (Bet365)
Sezer would like to think he is more popular than he actually is, but he may get a shock should he be put up for eviction. He is looking at house survival from a "safety in numbers" perspective and has formed an alliance with love interest Imogen, George and the pairing of Mikey and Grace, using their London social lives as a basis for common ground. He is battling for the role of alpha male in the house but could find himself come unstuck, as Maxwell did in last year's show.

Lea Walker
Win Odds: 40/1 (Ladbrokes)
Lea has adopted the role of "mother" in the house but is another housemate who could find themselves up for eviction sooner rather than later. She hasn't done anything to upset the other housemates and has fought their corner when Shabaz was acting appallingly during his short stay. However, she has not formed any real alliances and may find herself picked off within the next few weeks.

Bonnie Holt
Win Odds: 66/1 (Bet365)
Bonnie (or "Bonneh" as she pronounces it) has done very little to justify her "chatterbox" personality since entering the house and is red hot favourite for the first eviction. Bonnie has melted in to the background and has been hardly noticeable on the highlights shows bar a few harsh words for Shabaz and moaning to Big Brother about not receiving her suitcase. This Rosie Webster look-a-like is like a fish out of water away from her native Loughborough and is one of several horribly miscast house mate members this series. Gone on Friday and won't be missed.

Dawn Blake
Dawn was ejected from the Big Brother house after eight days but threatened to leave on her own accord shortly after Shabaz walked on day six. She was officially expelled from the house due to receiving "coded communication" from the outside world but was not a particularly popular housemate in any case. She was accused by Nikki, although not to her face, of stinking out everyone elses clothes with her body odour due to not showering for four days.

Shabaz Chauhdry
Shabaz was another example of dreadful miscasting. The producers were hoping for an older, more extreme version of last year's Kemal, but what they got instead was a mentally deranged idiot who couldn't cope with living and interacting with other people. He lasted six days before leaving of his own accord and won't be missed in the slightest.

Parents of Child Actors - Register A Domain Name FAST!

Your child has done the hard part, breaking into show business, and the last thing on your mind as a parent is that somebody would try to use your child's newfound fame to their advantage.

Your loss is their gain.

I recommend registering your child's domain name as soon as your child a) works as a principal character in a TV show or film (has a credit on screen) or b) signs with an agent or manager. The reason for doing this as soon as possible is obvious: there are people out there who register domains of newcomers at the earliest opportunity. If you think to yourself "but my kid isn't famous yet" you are kidding yourself. There is a segment of the population that will immediately notice a new girl or boy on a TV show and immediately start posting their name around the Internet for other people to see.

So what is a domain name and how do you register one?

A domain name is the "internet address" you use to find a particular web site. The domain name for the web site you are on now is "kidsinthebiz.com." A popular domain name for a search engine is "google.com." Most actors will register their domain name as "firstnamelastname.com." There are also domain names that end in .us, .tv, .net, .org and hundreds more. Concentrate on the .com extension. Can you register a domain name if you don't even have a web site? YES! In fact, many parents will simply register their child's domain name and "park" it - not use it, just so somebody else can't take it. They may or may not ever make a web site, but they know that somebody else can't pretend to be their child with the domain name either.

One of the best places to register a domain name is a place called Go Daddy. It's a funny name but one of the best. GoDaddy.com is known as a domain name registrar, a place to register domain names. Once you are at their site, type your child's name (wthout spaces) into the "Start Your Search Here" box and click on "Go." If the domain hasn't been taken yet, click on Continue. You will be asked to buy a whole bunch of stuff you really don't need so click on "No Thanks" to continue. You will then be asked to buy even more things, so just click on Continue again. You may have some things auto-selected for you like "Traffic Builder" - uncheck it and click on Continue again.

Eventually you will get to a checkout page that will have you double-check everything to make sure it is correct, as well as choose a payment method. If there is anything else in your cart besides the domain name, remove it! For 2 years it should only cost you about $18.40.

You can choose to pay by PayPal or by Credit Card. Select which one and then also put check marks into the boxes saying you have read the agreement and terms of service. (I suggest actually reading them too, although they are pretty standard) - then click on Checkout Now.

The next section will require you to put in personal information. IMPORTANT - this information will be public, and once it is out there, people CAN bring it uyp again even if you change it. For the telephone number I would suggest your agent or managers number, NOT your private home phone number. Cell phone is also fine if you don't mind - but you will probably get calls on it. For address, again put your agent or manager's address, or a post office box if you have one. If you put your real home address, remember this will be available for everybody to see.

Continue the checkout process. Once everything is done, that is it. Your domain is now officially "parked" and will be on the Internet in 4-24 hours. When people call up the domain name in their web browser, they will see godaddy's "parked" page. If you ever build a web site for your child, or have someone build it for you, you will need to modify the settings in the GoDaddy control panel. Your web designer / web host should be able to help you with that.

Securing your child's domain name early means it won't be stolen later. Use your own judgment for when you feel it is the right time. Remember, if the .com is taken, you can try one of the other extensions, but even today, nothing is as good as a .com.

Donny & Marie Show: The Clothes That Made The Show

She was a little bit country. He was a little bit rock and roll. Together, they were a whole lot of ridiculous. And somehow, through the magic of over-the-top musical numbers, phenomenal guest stars, and painfully kitschy acting skills, Donny and Marie Osmond captured the attention and hearts of the entire nation. While The Donny and Marie Show of the late seventies only lasted a handful of seasons, their outrageous prime-time antics have made a lasting impression on TV viewers of any generation.

The Donny & Marie Show was created by SId and Marty Krofft, the famed creators of other such offbeat television programs as H.R. Pufnstuf and Land of the Lost. It aired from January 1976 to May 1979 as a weekly on ABC and featured such famous guest stars as Redd Fox, Lucile Ball, Betty White, Jerry Lewis, and Milton Berle. The format usually consisted of an elaborate opening act followed by a series of comedy sketches and an even more elaborate closing musical number. But for all the campy scripts and synchronized dance routines, the real stars of the Donny & Marie Show were, without a doubt, the costumes.

The 1977 Christmas special episode is a great example of Donny and Marie's ability to balance cutesy-poo costumes on that thin line between adorable and nauseating. Donny kept it simple; dressing in a matching white knit sweater and slacks combo with a red, white and green striped scarf, he wasn't afraid to say to the world, "Hi! I'm Donny Osmond! I taste like spearmint!" Marie made bolder choices in her winter finest with what looks to be a one-piece body suit but, upon closer inspection, turns out to be a sweater and stretch pants that are just slightly different shades of green. What makes this episode so memorable costume-wise is the fact that the entire Osmond family was featured --Mother, Father, the small army of twenty-eight that is the rest of their immediate family-- and they all match. I'm not sure who was in charge of coordinating outfits for that episode, but my hat certainly is off.

Another interesting costume extravaganza was the episode in which Marie celebrated her 18th birthday. In this episode, Marie and Donny sing their familiar weekly number, "I'm A Little BIt Country, I'm A Little Bit Rock-and-Roll", but this time -- gasp! -- they switch lyrics! That's right! And what kind of dramatic turn events would it be without ridiculous costumes. Both Donny and Marie sport matching silver outfits. Donny has a faux-western theme going on, while Marie looks like she just got back from touring with David Bowie. Marie also has an enormous new hairdo or, as Donny refers to it, a "hair don't."

Donny and Marie didn't stop at matching scarves and silver jumpsuits, though. In one episode, Donny portrays a superhero character known as Captain Purple, wearing an oversized purple muscle suit and wig and, as his mild-mannered alter-ego, a flannel suit. Not to be outdone, Marie suits up herself as Gnidder Neleh (Helen Redding spelled backward) in an equally campy red-orange mini-skirt and wig.

Star Wars being the cultural phenomenon that it was, it only made sense that Donny and Marie would have to do a parody of it. Donny plays Luke and Marie plays Leia with such guest stars as Redd Fox, Kris Kristofferson, Paul Lynde, and a few of the Osmond brothers. The costumes were polished, Osmond-style variations of the originals; unfortunately, C-3PO ends up stealing the show.

The best costumes of the entire series, however, belong to the famous Wizard of Oz episode. Marie plays Dorothy in a red checkered dress and pigtails, Donny is a Willy Wonka-esque Wizard in a yellow-green, curly wig and sparkling fez hat, and Paul Lynde is a downright terrifying Wicked Witch of the West in full green face paint, black gown and gruesome fingernails. Additional victims...err, guests...of this episode include Lucille Ball as the Tin Man, Paul Williams as the Cowardly Lion and Ray Bolger as the Scarecrow. The entire production is technicolor bizarre; the epitome of classic Donny and Marie.

While the show did indeed host a laundry list of Hollywood greats, the real stars weren't the people on the stage but the clothes on the people. From platform shoes and bellbottoms to capes and ice skates, Donny and Marie weren't afraid to let their clothes pick up where their own talent left off. And while some may find The Donny & Marie Show silly and outdated, one thing is for sure; there hasn't been anything like it on television since. Wardrobe-wise, that is.

Are celebrities happy?

Before we begin asking if the celebrities are happy, let us first find out what is happiness? If I feel good for an hour a day, and horrible for the rest of the day, am I happy? What if I am happy for eight hours a day and horrible for the rest of the sixteen hours? Am I a happy person? For most of us happiness is a state that is not permanent. We are not happy throughout the day. At least majority of us are not.

What is happiness? Happiness means a sense of deep contentment. A cheerful outlook. An attitude of positive thoughts. A person who has these qualities is happy during all the times of the day.

How about celebrities then? They have name, fame and wealth. They can, not only buy whatever they desire, but they can also buy a loved one. They can buy anything. Their name is splashed around in the media most of the times. Every news about them is awaited by the general population. Celebrities may not have been born with a silver spoon in the mouth, but the current spoon is mostly that of gold. So they must be happy!

But sadly, happiness is away from most of them. Speaking of contentment, most of them are not only not feeling any contentment, but are frustrated. They are jealous at times. And they have no deep sense of peace in them. Rather their life and minds are full of turbulence most of the times. They are at times so dissatisfied with their own life that they wish to run away from themselves. This they cannot do, and therefore substances that take them away from their own realities are so often used by them.

Happiness has something to do with money, but only to an extent. Happiness has nothing to do with fame, if you are not satisfied with yourself. Whatever the world may say, unless one has self-esteem, one can never be happy. All of us sail in the same boat. Most of us are living unhappy lives most of the time. Let us get happiness that will give us a satisfied sense of living. Let us strive for happiness in our own inner world.

Kenny Rogers' Plastic Surgery

So who does not know Kenny Rogers? The man who made poker one of the most well known old west games with his soulful "The Gambler" song in the early 1980's. He has long been a staple of the country music scene even though he seems to be a bit behind the times when it comes to the pop music that now passes for country. This is nothing that surprises many as Rogers has been linked to a good many stars with his duets and such. Of course there is the matter that he has had several wives. He has many times confessed that he is incredibly hard to live with and can be a bad husband at times. So many people are now asking how he managed to get the new youthful look. Once he was the rugged looking type that made the songs he sang about the old west and such have some credibility but now that has all changed. There has been some Kenny Rogers' plastic surgery going on and that is no surprise to anyone in the scene.

Early in his career Rogers was often times teased about his weight. While he has never been what you would call fat, he has been heavy and sometimes looked a bit bloated. For this he enlisted some help to make himself more on the cutting edge of the new stars that were appearing. He managed to get his weight under control and that meant a lot of work but it has worked for him well. Then to add insult to injury he was becoming a bit old looking. The many lines around his eyes showed the signs of his lifestyle which sometimes mirrored the men in his songs. His constant on the go theme of life had finally caught up with him and there was little that he himself could do about it. The damage had been done and Kenny Rogers' plastic surgery seemed to be the only answer.

Kenny Rogers' plastic surgery seemed to be a disaster from the start. He went in to have some of the aging look taken care of and ended up looking horrible. This is one of the more sore spots for Rogers as he tells a good many reporters that this is not the way that he intended to look but that is what he got. He knows all to well that the skin around his eyes is pulled too tight and that his face looks like it may rip open. Even though his new wife tells him that he looks great, he knows better and is enlisting the help of a team of plastic surgeons to undo what has been done already.

Oscar Awards Celebrity Goodie Bags

You can't help but thumb through the fashion mags after a Hollywood award show to see what the stars wore-the good, the bad and the downright shameful. But one aspect of all the glitz is the goody bags the stars take home. Sure, it may take an entire paycheck (or two or three) to afford just one item from these hush-hush swag bags, but we still want to know what's in them. What is so intriguing about millionaire celebrities (who could stop working today and still live more comfortably than the general populous)getting free stuff that we'd eat Ramen noodles for a month to own?

Maybe it's because stars set the trends-and even if you're not a closet E! News devotee, you'll run out to buy those hot shades Paris Hilton was photographed wearing. And as much as it pains us to think about the unfairness of it all-stars hold a lot of clout when it comes to product endorsements-the very reason companies load them up with free loot. So, even if you think you're the most stylish accountant to grace corporate America, thousands of people won't buy leopard-print pants simply because you wore a pair to the office party.

Okay, so what's in the bags? It could be a Gaiam's Organic Spa Experience, complete with European-style glass aromatherapy essential oil diffuser; organic cotton towel; organic cotton robe; soy pillar candle; botanical shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body wash and cleansing bar; meditation and Yoga CD sets; and a Maize storage chest.

Celebs at the recent Academy Awards took home a Motorola Special Edition Black RAZR V3. in a keepsake and personalized Jonathan Adler box (sorry folks, this tricked out version of the Motorola's popular mobile is a celebrity exclusive).

How about a two-night stay for two at Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley, California valued at $2,500? www.bernardus.com Or a sterling silver choker/braclet/earring set made of pearls and Bali beads by Cathy Jordan?

To keep track of celebrities' 15 minutes of fame, guests could take home a Fabio Micucci Fabio Micucci (no, not that Fabio) hour glass. And presenters at a past Oscars got a Micucci crystal decanter with a sterling silver stopper (perfect for all those celebrity offspring born with a silver spoon...oh you know what I mean)

It's a bitter pill to swallow but we both know you'll be breaking out the Top Ramen (and I'm right along with you).

FIREFOX

Why is Firefox so popular?

A myriad of reasons explain why Firefox is becoming increasingly more popular:

RSS reader-Firefox has a built-in RSS reader which allows users to stay up to date with the content of their favourite blogs and Websites;

Better security-Firefox has proven more secure than Internet Explorer for a few reasons, but primarily because the majority of hackers prefer to target the most commonly used browser, namely Internet Explorer;

Integrated search bar-Firefox users have quick and easy access to their favourite search engines such as Google and Yahoo;

Customizable-Unlike most browsers, Firefox allows numerous options to personalize both its appearance and functionalities;

Find as you type-Firefox automatically highlights the first result of a search as you start to type it. If you frequently search the content of Web pages, this feature can save you quite a bit of time;

Tabbed browsing-Arguably one of the most important reasons behind Firefox's popularity is that it offers tabbed browsing. In other words, you can navigate several sites in a single page as well as drag and drop tabs to keep sites together;

Firefox Extensions

Another key advantage of using Firefox is that it allows the use of numerous extensions. If you are not familiar with extensions, they are add-ons that provide the browser with new functionalities. There are literally hundreds of extensions, but here are a few well-known and popular ones to illustrate the numerous possibilities that Firefox extensions have to offer (for a complete list check out https://addons.mozilla.org/):

No Script-Makes your browser more secure by allowing JavaScript, Java and other executable content only for trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site;

Video Downloader-Allows users to download videos from Youtube, Google, Metacafe, iFilm, Dailymotion, and other video sites;

DownThemAll-This extension is a download manager that features an advanced accelerator that increases speed up to 400% and allows users to pause and resume downloads at any time;

MacFox-Lets PC users experience the look of Mac OS X. This extension includes Aqua-style UI elements and enhancements.
