5 Top Things That Cause Your Insomnia

Millions of people out there suffer from insomnia almost every night. Many are trying to cure it with drugs. Why should you use drugs if you can find the causes and manage to overcome them?

Yes, there are some simple solutions that you can try. You only need to find the cause, and, zap! You can cure your insomnia almost effortlessly.

Here are some top causes:

• Your bed room

Is it messy? Is it too crowded? Did you choose a calm color of wallpaper or paint?

Yes, all should be put into considerations.

Sleeping is a process to relax your body. And, you can never get relaxed if you're not comfortable with the condition of your bedroom.

• Your bed

Make sure that both the bed and pillow are comfortable and clean. Remember, it will be hard for you to shut your eyes if you're not comfortable.

Also, avoid doing other activities than sleeping in your bed. If you've been watching TV while lying in your bed, you'd better stop it. That might be the cause of your insomnia. It's better to move the TV out of your bedroom.

Bed should only associates to sleep, not to other activities.

• Clocks

How come a clock can cause insomnia? You might ask.

Let's see it this way. You're having an exam or job interview tomorrow and of course, you wouldn't want to be late for that.

So, before sleeping you go checking you clock placed on the table next to your bed, once. Then, you check it out again. That makes it twice. And again, and again. Not only it takes too much of your sleeping time, but it also adds to your nerves.

Stress will avoid you from sleeping. So, put your clock somewhere else.

• Too many thoughts

If your mind goes to several directions such as jobs, family, health, etc, you'll never be able to get yourself relaxed.

Try to avoid thinking too much when you already get in your bed. To help, you can count sheep.
Yes, that might sound silly but it helps you get your mind into one single direction. Soon, you'll be sleepy and close your eyes.

Just try and prove it.

• Alcohol

The alcohol works as a stimulant and regardless of how tight you close your eyes or how deeply you long for sleep, it doesn't happen.

The way to avoid alcohol induced insomnia is to either not drink in the evening or choose a drink that works to relax you instead of stimulate you.

If those are the things that cause your insomnia, follow all the tips to get a good night sleep. I believe, soon, you'll be sleeping like a baby.

Have a nice sleep!

What You Should Know Green Energy

Green energy refers to the use of power that is not only more efficient than fossil fuel but that is friendly to the environment as well. Green energy is generally defined as energy sources that dont pollute and are renewable.

There are several categories of green energy. They are anaerobic digestion, wind power, geothermal power, hydropower on a small scale, biomass power, solar power and wave power. Waste incineration can even be a source of green energy.

Nuclear power plants claim that they produce green energy as well, though this source is fraught with controversy, as we all know. While nuclear energy may be sustainable, may be considered renewable and does not pollute the atmosphere while it is producing energy, its waste does pollute the biosphere as it is released.

The transport, mining and phases before and after production of nuclear energy does produce and release carbon dioxide and similar destructive greenhouse gases. When we read of green energy, therefore, we rarely see nuclear power included.

Those who support nuclear energy say that nuclear waste is not, in fact, released into our earths biosphere during its normal production cycle. They stress as well that the carbon dioxide that nuclear energy production releases is comparable, in terms of each kilowatt hour of electricity, to such sources of green energy as wind power.

As an example of the green energy production the average wind turbine, such as the one in Reading England, can produce enough energy daily to be the only energy source for 1000 households.

Many countries now offer household and commercial consumers to opt for total use of green energy. They do this one of two ways. Consumers can buy their electricity from a company that only uses renewable green energy technology, or they can buy from their general supplies such as the local utility company who then buys from green energy resources only as much of a supply as consumers pay for.

The latter is generally a more cost - efficient way of supplying a home or office with green energy, as the supplier can reap the economic benefits of a mass purchase. Green energy generally costs more per kilowatt hour than standard fossil fuel energy.

Consumers can also purchase green energy certificates, which are alternately referred to as green tags or green certificates. These are available in both Europe and the United States, and are the most convenient method for the average consumer to support green energy. More than 35 million European households and one million American households now buy these green energy certificates.

While green energy is a great step in the direction of keeping our environment healthy and our air as pollutant free as possible, it must be noted that no matter what the energy, it will negatively impact the environment to some extent.

Every energy source, green or otherwise, requires energy. The production of this energy will create pollution during its manufacture. Green energys impact is minimal, however.

The Road To Your Child's Success Goes Through Reading

From the first day your child enters this world and hears the sound of your voice, they begin their foundation for understanding the language and becoming a reader.

From that first moment on, each time you speak to your child and respond to the sounds that they make, you are their teacher helping them to improve their understanding of the language that surrounds them in their new world.

Reading is the foundation from which all other education is built upon, and the spoken language is preparation of the surface on which this foundation will be laid.

With language as the surface for the foundation, and infants being such natural sponges soaking in everything around them, every opportunity you have to communicate with your child should be taken advantage of.

Talk, listen, and respond to your child. Sing and read to and with your child and you'll be mapping a course of success.

A child's early experience is, of course, language. They take in and very soon begin to imitate that which they see and hear. Soon to follow will be the recognition of the individual characters that make up the language. From there the individual characters morph into words, words then become sentences and onward. And as reading continues to develop, so does the child's vocabulary as they encounter, recognize, and master even more new words. Then there is writing that soon develops and builds as it all ties back to reading.

With all of this going on, it's easy to understand that becoming a reader is a step by step process for children. Not all learn at the same pace and some children will need more practice and attention than others.

However, by the age of about 7 most children are on their way. During this time frame, even the children experiencing difficulties can overcome them and become a very successful reader when given the proper attention. Your active participation in this early development of your child's reading skills is vitally important.

It will be a time not only filled with wonderful moments of bonding and celebrating successes, but it is a foundation you are building that your child will benefit from for their entire lifetime.

Although this timeline is greatly condensed in the form of this article, you should easily see the importance and the direct correlation reading has to the long term success that your child experiences.

When your child is but a baby, read aloud to them regularly throughout each day. Cuddle up with them and read them a story in the afternoon. And by all means don't forget about the tried and true bedtime story.

Make reading to your child a quiet, comfortable, and loving time for them; one that they look forward to and enjoy. If they are restless, energetic, and in play mode, save the reading time for when they unwind and ready to snuggle up.

Generally speaking, try to spend at least a half hour a day reading with your child. Keeping their natural attention span in mind, early on your reading time will be shorter and more often.

Needless to say, with young children, a set schedule is tough to follow as each day is such a new adventure for kids this age.

Don't worry if your reading times don't consistently come together at the same times each day. The key is to look for those quiet opportunities for reading and bonding time. Your child will begin to associate reading with something that is fun and enjoyable and not something that is an interruption to the rest of their day.

Doing this will keep reading fun for both of you, develop good reading habits with your child, and lay the foundation for a lifetime of successes.

Proposed Policy For Texas Schools May Do More Harm Than Good

There is a proposal on the table by Governor Rick Perry and the Texas schools. They share a commitment to provide a high quality education for every child in the state of Texas. A commendable goal to be sure; however, their latest proposal for the Texas schools is drawing some opposition in high places.

The governor and the Texas schools recently proposed a new policy to require all school districts in Texas to spend at least 65 percent of their operating budgets on "direct classroom instruction." The goal is to limit administrative costs and to spend more of their budgets on actual instruction.

The problem is with the definition of "direct classroom instruction." The Texas schools define it as "activities associated with interaction of teachers and students." This includes teaching staff salaries and benefits, as well as classroom supplies, such as textbooks and teaching materials. The broad definition also includes transportation of athletic teams to their events.

What is not covered are teacher professional development and curriculum, student counseling, and some library expenses.

Texas representative Joe Straus (R-San Antonio for District 21), according to the Austin-American Statesman, stated that teacher professional development is essential to delivering a quality education to Texas students. With the proposed policy, he said you can get an athletic team to an event, but the coach will lack the expertise and training to win the game. Straus believes this proposed policy will shortchange the teachers and ultimately shortchange the students, too.

More opposition is coming from former Secretary of Education Rod Paige, who addressed the "65 percent proposal" recently in The New York Times. He believes the policy will limit educators at a time when they need to innovate the most. They need more freedom - not less. He wants the Texas schools to stress teacher professional development, Internet content to supplement lessons, and after-school tutoring opportunities for the students. None of these would be considered related to direct classroom instruction.

Straus further stated that if the teachers are not prepared to do their jobs well, then any other efforts to improve student academic achievement will be a waste of time.

The Austin-American Statesman article of July 21, 2006, noted that one in every two teachers in the United States will quite teaching within five years, and that more than 200,000 teachers will not return to teaching next fall - that is nearly six percent of all teachers across the nation. It was further noted that research has proven that new and effective forms of professional teacher development, along with powerful instructional methods, do improve teacher retention - not just in a particular school, but within the career field as well.

Retention of quality teachers is essential for the Texas schools, as well as for student academic achievement. Retention requires training and development for the Texas schools' teachers. Without it, the goal of a quality education for every Texas schools student is lost.

The Importance Of Qualified Home School Teaching

Many parents, faced with inadequate schooling for their children or a child's particular educational needs that a district can not effectively handle, choose instead to home school their child. Home schooling – when done appropriately and responsibly – can be enormously effective in educating children in particular situations. However, qualified home school teaching is paramount to achieving results.

Parents choose the option of home schooling for a variety of reasons. In some cases, the quality of education is lacking in their area school district, classrooms are overcrowded, or particular educational needs can not be met by existing programs. While private schooling may sometimes be an option, in many cases it is cost-prohibitive. In other cases, learning or physical disabilities hinder students regardless of what traditional school environment they attend. In all of these cases, home schooling can provide an efficient and successful alternative to traditional learning environments.

Those providing home school teaching – most often the parent of the child being home schooled – must make a commitment to keeping the student on par with the curriculum being offered through the public school system. Each particular state offers their own guidelines regarding home school teaching requirements. Those interested in home school teaching should possess a strong desire to have a positive impact on their student's education; the rest will come with experience. Home school curriculum in line with state guidelines can be found online and will lead instructors step-by-step through the process.

Parents who choose home schooling are often intimidated by the teaching process. What they will soon discover is that home school teaching is ultimately the communication of information in a way that works for each particular student. For example, if your child learns best through sound, you may find that you do well with the use of DVD instruction in your home school teaching. Other students need a more hands-on approach. If you listen and observe the needs of your child you will often find a way to customize your home school teaching.

Home school teaching can bring learning into focus for a variety of students. Released from the social, emotional, and educational obstacles sometimes found in traditional school environments, students are left with a clear path to learning. Approached responsibly, the home school process can instill confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

Salt Lake City Schools See First Utah Scholarship Grads

Salt Lake City Schools recognized the academic success of both a federally funded program, and of its individual students in May. The first group of 150 Utah Scholars has graduated from the rigorous academic high school program.

Utah Scholars is a federally funded program that was with the goal of encouraging academic rigor at the high school level. Several Salt Lake City Schools including the Granite, Jordan, Park City and Prove districts had participating students. Utah was one of 22 states to benefit with a grant of $300,000 to fund the program for two years.

Salt Lake City Schools require students to meet state guidelines of 4 years of English, and 3 of math and science to graduate. Those Salt Lake City Schools students in the Utah Scholars program are required to complete 4 years of English, 3 ½ of social studies, 3 of science, 3 of math, and 2 of a foreign language. One main incentive is the possibility of grants and scholarships for successful graduates of the program.

The program was launched for two reasons. Educators in Salt Lake City Schools and around the nation have noticed a direct correlation between a demanding high school course load and success in both college and college entrance exams- like the SATs. There has also been national concern over the decreasing number of students enrolling in college programs and completing degrees on time.

Declining numbers of advanced degrees have been an ongoing concern for Salt Lake City Schools. In 2004 the Utah Foundation reported that the number of bachelor degrees among residents was steadily declining. Less young people were pursuing the degree and Utah schools were 31st in the nation with the 25-34 year old crowd. A 2006 report issued by the US Census Bureau confirmed concerns when it released figures that said only 27% of Utah residents hold bachelors degrees.

One reason that this may be a problem in the Salt Lake City Schools is it's large Mormon population. The famous founders of Brigham Young University encourage their members to marry young and to do missionary work for the (Mormon) Church of Latter Day Saints before beginning their education.

Salt Lake City Schools are trying to educate its students on the vast discrepancies in income between those with bachelor's degrees and those without. The Utah Scholars program is helping them to do that. This past school year the Salt Lake City Schools targeted eighth graders who will enroll in the program next year. These selected students at Salt Lake City Schools will work with mentors from local colleges and counselors in their own schools. Salt Lake City Schools are hopeful that they can graduate another crop of Utah Scholars and turn the trend around.

Back To School Binders And Paper Items

Parents are quite startled when they are presented with the list of school supplies that are needed by every child in the family. Not only are there many pens, pencils and under-liners needed, but the students are responsible for bringing to school binders and paper that will fit them. Then there will be other paper on the list that everyone will need.

At the end of the shopping trip, the family might have accumulated a lot of bulk just from the binders and paper items that were on the school supplies shopping list. Some parents will not even consider buying a book bag for their child until the binders and paper items are purchased. They found out from previous years that many book bags will not allow certain binders to be inserted into them.

Some school teachers have their own preference to the binders that children use for special projects. Parents might be tasked with buying see through folders in place of binders for many of the classes that their children will take. Some school boards are very rigid about the items that are placed on the school supplies shopping lists that are sent out to every parent's just weeks before school is to start.

There can be dire consequences when the school board's decisions do not match those of some parents. The school board feels very strongly when some parents do their own thing and buy just what they want their child to use throughout the school year. The child might even get a failing grade because they used the wrong binder for a project.

Parents get very intense when this happens and are not shy about letting the school, the teacher, and in some cases, they might even take their disgruntled views to the school board meetings that are held at the courthouse each month. They might prepare a speech where the binders and paper items are thoroughly discussed. The parents might point out that one binder is just as good as another and that only the price difference for each of them is the real problem.

The issue of paper size might come up a time or two in these meetings with the school board and some of them might be very good points. Some binders will allow the standard sized paper to fit in nicely, but the ones that are on the present school list allow the paper to hang past the margins and well past the dividers that are meant to separate the homework assignments and the school projects assigned by a teacher throughout the school year.

The school board is certain to take certain points under consideration until the next school board meeting. During that time lapse, they might assign someone to visually inspect the various binders and papers that are offered at the mass merchandising retailers in town. They become enlightened on the various styles and decorative binders that are available for purchase in each store that is visited, and really become aware of what dilemmas that parents face when they go to buy the binders and paper items that are on the school supplies list that they create every year.

Why Should I Consider A Career In Seo?

Corporate entities are no longer confined in bricks and mortar. They are spreading their tentacles in the virtual world. Businesses are going online. They are building websites, allowing netizens to shop online, aggressively marketing their products on the net and harnessing the power of the Internet to build up leads for their products and services.

The corporate world has also become aware that only 'Building a Site' will not help in drawing prospective customers. Sites as well as brands have to be pushed aggressively, marketed properly and above all ensure that they are able to garner the attention of search engines. This has meant that an increasing number of corporate houses are looking out for trained Internet Marketing Professionals who are aware of the intricacies of search engine optimization.

But, finding such professionals is proving to be a daunting task for recruiters. This is because there are very few institutes offering SEO training and certification. Also, most of the available talent has not received proper training per se but are self-taught professionals. The above-mentioned facts are also supported by experts who state that the industry supply is lagging the demand by 20%.

Robert Half International, world's first and largest specialized staffing firm, cites the job profile of Search Engine Optimizer as 'one of four jobs on cutting edge'. So, should you consider doing a career in Search Engine Optimization?

Let's look at the work profile of a search engine optimizer. MSN Careers states that 'SEOs typically supplement their knowledge of how various search engines operate and determine page rankings with strong marketing skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and program using HTML.' Thus, SEO comprises all the aspects relevant to building of a website right from its development to the content and designing.

SEO is a sunrise industry. Reports are showing that the spending on SEO as well as online marketing is growing. According to survey conducted by Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO), 'North American advertisers spent $9.4 billion on search engine marketing (SEM) in 2006, a 62 percent increase over 2005 spending'. Similarly, a survey conducted by Affinity Internet reveals that 'SMBs will commit greater resources to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) marketing and other online efforts in 2007.' A study conducted by E-consultancy paints a rosy picture about the future of SEO. The study takes into the account the mindset of business houses located in the UK. According to the study, 'Continued pay-per-click growth and keyword inflation have boosted companies' spending on SEM, with an emerging trend towards the long-term benefits of organic optimization as Adwords/Overture costs soar'.

All the above reports point to the fact that the spending on SEO and online marketing is growing. The reports also indirectly underline the fact that the demand for SEO professionals is all set to increase in the near future.

Look at any leading job site. You will notice that there are many openings for SEO. For instance, Yahoo Hotjobs had approximately 214 openings for the month of May 2007 in US alone. Moreover, the jobs available require people with a varying level of experience. So, whether you are a fresher or possess some experience, you are sure of landing a job provided you are equipped with employer-desired skill set and qualifications. Likewise, the pay packet is also good. A fresher can expect to earn between $ 25K-$ 35K which only increases with experience. In fact, according to MSN careers, 'because of a shortage of experts in this relatively new area, many top SEOs receive multiple job offers.'

The fact that the rules of SEO remain same and are immune to geographical locations only increases your chances of getting a job. For instance, if you have received your training from an institute located in India and have worked in a company located in UK, you are still eligible to apply for a job in US.

SEO industry has many interesting careers up for grabs. Equipped with a right kind of certifications and good knowledge about search engines, you can expect to land a challenging and a well-rewarding career.

Find More Than Just A Degree Of Success At California Community Colleges

It's a great pleasure and honor studying, working as well as teaching at some of the prestigious California community colleges. I moved in 1977 across from back east of the country with two suitcases and 300 dollars, to take advantage of the educational system in California in general and of California community colleges-for starters-in particular. Besides being unbelievably affordable at that time it was also extremely reputable as fine preparatory, or transitional, institutions of higher education.During my first semester at College of Marin, for instance, besides buying my texts, I paid only $3.00 for the whole semester. That was for the Health Fee.

California community colleges are not quite so low-priced-though they are still affordable-in recent times, but they are still brilliant first- and second-year colleges and trade/occupational training sites. Those graduating either from the neighboring high schools or returning to college after years away attend courses and programs in almost all of the major disciplines and/or take up vocational courses for example those in the Automotive Mechanics or Cosmetology divisions at almost all of the 72 regions' California community colleges.

As the Chancellor of the California community colleges reveals in the mission statement (at http://www.cccco.edu/faq_cccco.htm#mission), basic aims of all of the California community colleges are to offer "essential and important functions" such as basic skills instruction, English as a second language (ESL, or, English for speakers of other languages, ESOL) education and practice, adult non-credit instruction, and student and community support services.

While funding is the contingency (and often the bane), some California community colleges engage in outreach, research, and other related projects and programs. They often present a small degree of health services, offer social and academic guidance and support (for honors charters, for instance) and extracurricular access (as, for example, student associations and clubs as well as sports teams).

Despite the fact that I taught and worked at and am thus partial to select California community colleges in the Bay Area (in Northern California), they are some of the best kept secrets all over the state. Below is the list with individual colleges where you can find additional information online by either typing in the name of the college and dot net, or dot cc dot ca, or dot edu:

American River College, Sacramento
Butte College, Oroville
College of San Mateo, San Mateo
Diablo Valley College, Pleasant Hill
East Los Angeles College, Monterey Park
Feather River College, Quincy
Grossmont College, El Cajon
Hartmon College, Salinas
Imperial Valley College, Imperial Valley
Laney College, Oakland
College of Marin, Kentfield
Ohlone College, Fremont
Palomar College, San Marcos
College of the Redwoods, Eureka
Skyline College, San Bruno
Taft College, Taft
Ventura College, Ventura
West Hills College, Coalinga

Effective Goal-setting For A Successful Achievement

Having a goal in your life is important. Otherwise, you won't feel the need to live on.

Yet, some can't achieve the goal because of they don't know how to set it effectively and correctly.

Yes, the goal setting is as important as the achievement. You'll reach your goal a lot more easily if set it well.

Here are some important notes for you to comprehend on an effective goal setting:

• The most important thing in setting your goal is to be precise. Try to include time, date and other details to ease you in the process. Also, it helps you measure the achievement.

Write your goals down on paper so that you can avoid any confusion. It also can help you commit to your own words.

• Try to set goals over something that you will still be able to control. This can help you guide your accomplishment in the goal. Avoid anything that might have external factors that might keep you away from achieving your goal.

Try not to make goals based on a reward system. It might highly motivate you at the commencement but once you achieve these types of goals you might not feel as much personal satisfaction.

• It is extremely vital to set a realistic goal. Don't set a goal that is too high for you. You have to know your level of performance. The goal has to be set within the levels. One or two levels higher will be acceptable. But, five to ten levels higher will just end you up in desperation for not being able to achieve the goal.

• Yet, don't make it too easy when setting your goal. Low goal is easy to achieve but you won't get as much satisfaction.

The process of goal achievement should also be a process for you to be a better person, to be more self-confident. If you can achieve a big goal, it will surely raise your self-confidence level. Just get yourself be challenged by your goal.

Don't be afraid of failure. Yet don't let it get you drowned.

• Thinking through your goals before you make them. This way, you can end up making only wise goals.

You need to go through several details and factors before finally setting the goal. First, consider the other commitments that you have made, will it be keeping you away from your effort to reach your goals? Second, how much time you have to devote to achieving your goal? Do you think you have that much of time? Third, what are the skills that you need to have to help you reach the goal? Forth, think about alternative ways to achieve the goals.

If you have set the goals in a correct and effective way, you can now do all you can to make them come true. Good luck!

Pro And Cons Of Home Schooling

Home schooling is a popular way to educate children all around the globe for a variety of reasons. Main home schooling pros and cons follow.

Cons

Level of Learning - Too many people think that those children who are home schooled will not receive appropriate levels of education compared to students learning in public and private schools. On the contrary, parents of home scholars work with their local boards of education, principals and / or other educational consultants to ensure they are meeting the requirements set forth.

Socialization - Another negative viewpoint is that those students who are studying at home do not get to mingle enough with their peer groups and other instructors, administration and school personnel and teachers. And that's just hogwash. Students at home meet with others in home school groups to tour all types of local and far away places that coordinate with their study plans. And equally if not more important, home school students are introduced to real life people throughout their days: bankers, grocers, and other professionals introduced through their program studies and real life as they go around on errands with parents.

Lack of Routine / Regimented Days - Some view a lack of disciplined hours Monday through Friday with home schooled students as negative. However, many home school parents establish routines at home, too. Children are not left haphazardly running around the streets unattended.

Lack of Real World Environment & Prep- And still others believe that home schooled children will lack environmental and other preparation for real life that public and private school supposedly teach their students. Again, more hogwash. Home schooled children learn science, technology, music, gym, any and all subjects - only more thoroughly, because they are focusing on what they are learning, not being bored with subjects taught over and over to help slower paced learners so that everyone is up to speed.

Pros

Private for Less Money - A home school education is like enjoying private education without the cost. Students get more one-on-one help, targeted lessons and advanced learning opportunities as their teachers do not have to teach to all levels, often covering lower-learning levels that bore more average and advanced learners.

Improved Targeted Subjects - lessons in the home school environment are also to be customized much more easily than those in public and private school. Results include much higher levels of education with targeted useful knowledge to help students after graduation.

Higher Grades - Home schooled students are known to average much higher grades than their peers in public and private schools. Many get accepted to top colleges and universities on scholarships.

Boredom Busters - Home schooling allows students to move ahead to better topics.

Obtaining College Education Online

Most people put off attending college because they feel that it will interfere with a work schedule or family responsibilities. When they find that obtaining a college degree is a structured pursuit, and that getting a college education can be accomplished through the completion of online courses, many people begin checking out which degrees are available and what the cost of attending college online will be, as compared to day or night classes at the local university.

Getting a college degree through an accredited institution is one of the first things a college student will consider when thinking about taking college courses through the internet. There are over 1000 college and universities across the United States that take an active part in online education pursuits and all of them are accredited. People are finding online education to be a great way of taking educational pursuits to a whole new level that is modern and recognized by employers.

More people are pursuing an online education because the various degree programs that are offered through accredited universities and colleges are eligible for funding through traditional channels found at land-based centers of education. Student aid funding is one of the most widely used funding sources for online courses and traditional college courses taught at universities and colleges across the country that all students can utilize.

There are other funding avenues available from the Government for students that qualify for scholarships and online course payments can be made utilizing these sources. All methods of payment can be utilized through the online enrollment process and students recognize the value of Government discounts because they allow students to pay a low monthly fee to cover the tuition not funded through these scholarship awards and tuition assistance programs.

The selection of courses that can be taken through online college and university programs can earn students a quality education and award them an associate, bachelor, or Master's degree in a shorter period, if the student completes the online courses ahead of schedule. There is a large selection of free online courses that can be taken for earning a few college credits that are needed for graduation. Some college students take online college courses to fulfill hiring requirements in the work place. Online courses will fulfill the requirements that a student needs to earn a certificate, and educators find online courses meet their needs perfectly.

Many people use these courses to advance in the career field of their choice and continue taking online college courses throughout their careers to further their education. Many corporations have policies in place that encourage employees to attend college, and these corporations will match the cost of taking these courses. This type of job benefit is a win-win situation for everyone at work because both parties are getting a quality product from the online education opportunities.

People are still able to work a full day and still obtain a quality education. Obtaining a college education online can be achieved while a person takes care of family responsibilities. Online college courses are available to any person who has access to the internet and the courses can be completed in any location. Most people have the pre-conception that online courses must be completed at home and they are very happy to learn that they can be completed anywhere that the internet portal can be accessed.

The San Jose Schools Struggle With Charters

The San Jose Schools have struggled for years to find ways to address educational issues in the city. While there is a lot of room for criticism in any urban school district, you can't say that the San Jose Unified School District hasn't tried a lot of different angles for success. The diversity in the San Jose Schools, with a significant percentage of Spanish and Vietnamese speaking families, can be part of the problem when communicating with parents and building successful schools. That's why the charter schools within the San Jose Schools are such a bone of contention.

Charter schools are usually public schools which are independently run by a local or independent organization. Charter schools in the San Jose Schools often are freed from some of the constrictions that the regular public schools face. Is this good or bad? Well, there are a lot of opinions. For those who think that the San Jose Schools public education system needs to be taken over privately, and run like a business, charter schools make a lot of sense. For those in the San Jose Schools we are trying to make the current system better, charter schools seem like a drain on funding that get to operate outside of the rule book. What do the results say?

Results of Charters in the San Jose Schools

A recent study of California charter schools had some interesting results that may impact the San Jose Schools. An independent educational research group found that charters are better for middle school students, worse for elementary school students, and there was no consistent pattern for high school students.

What does this mean for students, parents and teachers in the San Jose Schools? A lot more indecision and confusion. Look at the Leadership Charter Schools. There's one in East San Jose, and a few more in outlying areas. Many parents are passionate about sending their children here, but the charter has continually butted heads with the local public schools. That's partially because schools lose money when students leave for another school. So the charters can cost the public schools money.

But here's what the San Jose Schools should be focusing on. There's a reason why charter middle schools seem to perform better than other middle schools. Let's not wait another 3 years for an independent research team to find out what's going on. The principals and teachers of San Jose Schools should be meeting and brainstorming to find out what the differences are. Charter and public schools on the same team. I suspect the need for preadolescents to have be in smaller and more intimate settings is going to show up as a factor. But why then, would charter elementary schools be in worse shape?

Maybe elementary schools are smaller to begin with so size is less of a factor? Maybe the elementary schools tend to be newer and by the time the kids filter up to middle the kinks are worked out? Lots of questions that need to be answered. At the moment, the San Jose Schools use the charter schools as an alternative, largely for low-income families. And with the state of education, alternatives aren't something we should give up.

Differences Of The German Language

Your reasons in learning the German language could probably be of different influence and you may have ranging reasons as well, but what matters is that, the enthusiasm and interest in learning another language than your own helps you become a better person more than just one aspect. Learning a second or third language has benefits of its own, it could be for business sense, social want or for a career changing path.

Whatever reasons you may have, learning another language is not only going to benefit your standing as a person but also, will contribute a great deal to the betterment of your brain and how you think of things. When you learn the German language, there are some points you need to think of first.

Expect that German words aren't the same with the English vocabulary. But then, the English and German languages are descendants of the same language – the Proto-Germanic language. You'll also notice that the English vocabulary has some words that are quite similar to the words of the German language.

Pay attention to the sounds in pronouncing the German words correctly. The accent, the tempo and the way it is delivered. Learning the German language isn't going to do you any good if you just think about the way the words are pronounced. It's even best to practice saying the words out loud and if possible, talk to native German speakers so you can adapt easily to how they use the words in a sentence.

If remembering is your trouble, don't worry. You can still learn and remember German words in a snap. What you only need to do is to expand your imagination, add a touch of creativity to each strange word you encounter. Memorization, especially with foreign languages works well together when unknown words are linked together with something already familiar.

A little girl loves to wear her crescent shaped skirt along with her almond hat.

The distinct objects here are the little girl's skirt and hat. Isn't it too silly to wear something like that? Since your imagination have been able to notice the sentence right away, forgetting the words "almond" sound just like the German word "Halbmond" which means "crescent" in English is just too impossible to happen, right?

Kansas City Schools Serve Unique Students

Every city in every state in this nation has a homeless population. These are people who are "down on their luck". They may have suffered a series of financial disasters and have been driven from their homes because they simply couldn't pay the bills. They may suffer from a mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or clinical depression and are unable to care for themselves financially, as well as physically. It is beyond them to provide themselves with adequate food or shelter.

Sadly, many families suffer the first fate – mounting bills force them out of their homes. Many live in their cars, but still more have to depend on charitable organizations to help them meet the needs of their families. Sometimes, the judicial system gets involved, and families are split up; kids are placed in foster care in the hopes that they will get the care they need.

Kansas City Schools officials recognized a unique need for the children of a homeless family – they still need an education. However, with the many obstacles present for a homeless child and his or her family, getting this education is not always possible.

The State of Missouri requires every school district to coordinate homeless student services, including the district which serves Kansas City Public Schools. Homeless Student Services assures that homeless Kansas City Schools students are provided the same free public education as is provided to other children and youth. Kansas City Schools' services for over 1,000 homeless students include:

Assistance with immediate enrollment of homeless Kansas City Schools children and youth
Provide assistance with obtaining academic and medical records
Provide/arrange school transportation to Kansas City Schools of choice
Disseminate public notice of educational rights of homeless children and youth
Arrange special tutoring & education services for students outside the school day
Assist families in obtaining medical insurance and services
Coordinate Kansas City Schools related activities with homeless shelters and agencies

What most impresses me is that not only have Kansas City Schools recognized the needs of these very unique Kansas City Schools students, they are doing all they can to ensure they get the education they need, deserve, and are entitled to. One might say that of all students, these are the ones who need a good Kansas City Schools education the most. Graduating from high school is the only way to get into college, and really the only way to move up in the world, even when working a "blue collar" job. Helping these Kansas City Schools kids be successful in school will not only help them ensure a better future than if they didn't attend school, but will help them build the confidence and self-esteem they need to continue succeeding.

That's definitely one of the most admirable reasons out there for offering a public education to these deserving Kansas City Schools students.
